Welcome Mountain Families!

The Mountain staff is getting ready to welcome your children to a brand new school year! Jen Schmierer, our Assistant Principal, and I are thrilled to be working with you and your families.

This year’s theme is “Discover the Magic of Mountain!” Whether it’s the awe-inspiring nature that surrounds us, or our incredible students, families, and staff, Mountain is truly a magical place! Our custodial and administrative teams have been working hard all summer to ensure we are ready to go.The office is open from 8:00am-3:30pm to help you with registration documents if needed.  We’ve had a few staffing changes, which we will share as soon as details are finalized. Below is some initial information to help you get started. A more comprehensive newsletter will follow soon!

For transportation questions, please contact Keith Rosenbaum, Director of Transportation, at k.rosenbaum@laschools.net

Free Breakfast, Lunch & Meal Applications

Free breakfast and lunch will be provided to all students again this year!

  • Breakfast is available in front of the school (and inside the main lobby during cold weather).
  • Action Needed: Even though meals are free for everyone, we strongly encourage all families to complete the Free & Reduced Meal Program Application. These forms help unlock vital funding for our school/district and qualify families for reduced site fees. Please complete your application online at www.schoolcafe.com.

School Supplies & Childcare Information

  • Please refer to the Mountain School Supply List 2026–2027 for required items.Copy of Mountain School Supplies 2026-2027
  • If you purchased school supplies through the PTA's fundraiser, your child's supply kit will already be waiting in their classroom, so there is no need to bring supplies to Meet the Teacher.
  • After-School Care: While Mountain School does not offer after-school care (though optional clubs will be announced later), the YMCA provides on-campus childcare. Contact Tamryn Clancy for details at tclancy@laymca.org.

Final Reminders

  • Family Handbook: Our updated handbook is currently in draft form and will be sent out before the start of school.
  • Pass It Along: Please forward this message to any neighbors or families who may not have registered or completed their paperwork yet, and encourage them to do so ASAP!

Take care and enjoy the final days of summer break!

Sincerely,

Megan & Jen
